What Are the Key Points of Stainless Steel TIG Welding Process?

1. Using a power supply with vertical external characteristics, positive polarity is used for DC (welding wire connected to negative electrode)

2. It is generally suitable for welding thin plates below 6mm, with the characteristics of beautiful weld formation and small welding deformation

3. The protective gas is argon, with a purity of 99.99%. When the welding current is 50-150A, the argon gas flow rate is 8-10L/min. When the current is 150-250A, the argon gas flow rate is 12-15L/min.

4. The optimal length for the tungsten electrode to protrude from the gas nozzle is 4-5mm. In areas with poor shielding such as corner welding, it is 2-3mm. In areas with deep grooves, it is 5-6mm. The distance from the nozzle to the working position generally does not exceed 15mm.

5. To prevent the occurrence of welding pores, any rust, oil stains, etc. on the welding area must be cleaned thoroughly.

6. The welding arc length is best between 2-4mm when welding ordinary steel, and 1-3mm when welding stainless steel. If it is too long, the protection effect is not good.

7. To prevent oxidation on the back of the bottom weld during docking, gas protection should also be applied on the back.

8. In order to effectively protect the welding pool with argon gas and facilitate welding operations, the center line of the tungsten electrode should generally maintain an angle of 80-85 ° with the welded workpiece, and the angle between the filling welding wire and the surface of the workpiece should be as small as possible, generally around 10 °.

9. Windproof and ventilation. In windy areas, please take measures to block the mesh, and in indoor areas, appropriate ventilation measures should be taken.
